My name is Stuart Murray and I am a swashbuckling adventurer of human resources data. Wading through a sea of numbers is, to me, like embarking on a voyage. I see every numeric discovery as a bit of treasure that helps to inform the business of the major Canadian university that pays for my explorations.
Through my journey I have learned to improve business outcomes. How? Through the handling and analysis of human resources data. Vast quantities of it. There are lots of people out there who are good with data analysis. Few are good at explaining what they do and how they do it. This is my gift. I want to share it with you. Nothing makes my work more valued than when I can change people’s expression from glazed to excited.
I hope to provide a bridge between analysts and human resources people; two crowds that share limited common language. I want to democratize human resources data so that more people can create or understand the math, then apply it to their lives. I am not selling software or consulting services. My motivation is to build an audience through this blog, turn the contents into a book, and deliver paid public speaking engagements in my area of expertise. Enjoy the content, and consider hiring me.
I plan to provide new content twice-weekly. Most of what I post most will be original, and some will be borrowed from others and properly credited. All will be interesting, clear and to the point.
So follow me and come along for the ride. Get curious, take interest, take what you need, talk about it, and share.
